Open Knee Surgery
Open knee surgery is also known as an arthrotomy. It involves large incisions to get to the knee joint as opposed to arthroscopic surgery, which is a minimally invasive procedure. This more complex operation is necessary when the damage to the joint is very severe.

- Gentle range-of-motion exercises
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) or prescription painkillers
