Arthroscopic Surgery

Our surgeons have a wealth of experience and experience in arthroscopic surgery, a minimally invasive procedure that allows surgeons to diagnose and treat joint injuries without having to make large incisions. This allows for less pain and a quicker recovery. Even better, very complicated surgeries can be done on an outpatient basis.

The surgeon makes tiny incisions into the skin and inserts a pencil-sized lens and lighting system (arthroscope) to magnify the internal structures. The arthroscope is attached to a miniature television camera, which then projects the image onto a screen. This allows the surgeon to see inside without having to make large incisions. Because there are no deep incisions, recovery for the patient is much easier and faster.

Most joints can be diagnosed and repaired with an arthroscope, but six joints are most frequently assessed and operated on this way: knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle, hip and wrist.
