Foot and Ankle Pain

Eighty percent of Americans will suffer from some form of foot or ankle pain during their lives. This pain can be caused by injuries such as a sprained ankle or foot stress fracture,,ill-fitting shoes, diseases such as arthritis and diabetes, poor blood circulation in legs, genetic abnormalities, or simply wear and tear. No matter what the cause, the result can be the same: discomfort and limited mobility. Treatment options for foot and ankle pain vary, and can include physical therapy, orthotics, braces and - possibly - surgery to correct injuries and conditions related to age, trauma or both.

Stamford Hospital's Orthopedic Institute provides comprehensive orthopedic services and programs designed to help prevent and treat injuries and conditions affecting the foot and ankle. We provide for our patients' entire continuum of care - including foot and ankle pain prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. Our goal is simple: to return our patients to normal functioning as quickly and safely as possible.

Our highly trained team of orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, nurses, physician assistants, rehabilitation specialists and various medical support personnel work with each patient (and his or her primary care physician) to develop an individualized treatment plan specifically for that patient. By combining extensive clinical expertise with a compassionate, caring treatment philosophy, we have created a program known for its quality of care.
